We’ve come a long way since 1999. With your help we will go much further as 2009 approaches!
In 1999, Beth and I with our sons, Bob and Ted, arrived in Nigeria to minister through Bibles and Christian books. Initially we served 16 Challenge Bookshops. Largely because of you Oasis is now distributing through hundreds of booksellers in 13 African countries. Since Beth and I arrived Oasis has touched millions of lives through nearly 4 million Bibles and life changing Christian books—and countless gospels and tracts. And these are only beginning to meet the needs. It is estimated that 17,000 people are coming to Christ each day in Africa. Bibles and Christian literature are vital for them to grow spiritually! Oasis is serving this vibrant, exploding church.
The compound where Beth and I have lived since 1999 also houses Oasis retail and wholesale shops, warehousing and offices. The property owner is selling our compound and will make it available to Oasis at a favorable price. So we need to purchase it or find another apartment for Beth and me and location for Oasis. We want to avoid this major disruption to our ministry! Our board in the U.S., and our staff in Nigeria have prayerfully considered and believe now is an excellent time to purchase this compound as the permanent headquarters of our growing ministry throughout Africa.*
We are thankful that through these nine years, the Lord has met every need for both the ministry and for us through your generous giving. For the purchase of this compound, with 10,400 square feet of buildings, $285,000 is needed. The owner is demanding cash at closing. As we approach our second decade of service in Africa, we are asking you, our ministry and prayer partners to consider giving generously for this important need.
I have enclosed additional information to answer your questions here . Please email me if you have more.
Serving together,
Craig
* Our first choice is to buy the compound we currently occupy. If this is not secured, we will use funds to buy another comparable property. Pray for us, as we negotiate and work toward having the absolute best facility for Oasis’ future.
